RIDICULOUS PROCEDURES

WANTING TO SETTLE A LOAN I HAVE WITH ABSA I CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE ON FRIDAY, 10 MAY, TO OBTAIN MY SETTLEMENT AMOUNT. FIRSTLY, I WAS TOLD THAT THE SETTLEMENT AMOUNT IS ONLY VALID FOR 24HOURS, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS IN ITSELF SEEING AS MOST FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS OFFER A MAX 10 DAY SETTLEMENT PERIOD WITHOUT ACCUMULATING FURTHER INTEREST. I THEN WENT AHEAD AND MADE THE PAYMENT REQUESTING AN EXPRESS PAY & CLEAR OPTION (THAT I HAD TO PAY EXTRA FOR) A MERE HOUR LATER. SOMEHOW SOMETHING WENT AWRY AND THE PAYMENT WAS NEVER RECEIVED BY ABSA. WHEN I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN THIS MORNING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON & WANTING THE NEW SETTLEMENT AMOUNT (WHICH HAS OF COURSE ACCUMULATED INTEREST SINCE FRIDAY!) I WAS TOLD THAT A NEW SETTLEMENT CAN ONLY BE REQUESTED 14 DAYS AFTER THE LAST REQUEST???!!! OBVIOUSLY WANTING TO (FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD!) ANOTHER 14 DAYS WORTH OF INTEREST FROM ME!! I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH SUCH AN UNETHICAL, INCOMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL 'SERVICE PROVIDER' (HAH!) AGAIN.
