Been unemployed for 4 years and although my debt was prescribed I made an effort to pay Absa when I got a temporary job this year and requested that my account be settled. However, after paying, I'm still told I have to pay another R6000. I need this debt settled as I don't have further money to pay and I also can't afford to have a default/judgment on my name as it makes it difficult for me to get a job. I'm very much off because Absa is me even when I've done the honourable thing.
A prescribed debt doesn't have to be paid but I did, however I now regret this. I paid more than what I could afford because I really wanted to settle this debt.
