I enquired for my cat to go be boarded at the kennels on 29/10/2013 for the period 23/12/2013 through 2/01/2014. This is literally 2 months in advance. I had to confirm what the deposit and the banking details were as there was no info on their booking form. I returned the completed booking form and made the deposit of 50% by 01/11/2013.
I had to cancel my booking which i did telephonically on 07/11/2013. I was informed that they would find the form and get back to me. I reminded them by email on 08/11/2013 and received an email stating i am not entitled to my deposit refund. I queried this, especially since the booking/cancellation is far enough in advance to ensure that no boarding stands empty with the holiday season coming up. It is fair to say that the booking form, in one very LONG block of a paragraph, states that deposits are not refundable.
I have lost R500 just like that. Fair enough, i should have read the form thoroughly, but i would think that in the maturity conducting business some sort of stepped policy around deposits could be used eg. 75% refund for 30 days, 55% for 20 days etc. I am NOT HAPPY and will not recommend them.
