British Airways Comair
Airplane failure

I would like to express my disappointment with British Airways. I was booked on flight BA6438 from Cape Town to Johannesburg on 10 March 2012. We boarded the flight and it was communicated to us that there was a technical difficulty with the plane, as when the bags of the previous flight were off loaded, it was found that the bags were extremely hot. They kept telling us that it would only take 5-10 mins. After about an hour, the pilot announced that the engineer was looking at the problem and that if the problem could not be fixed, we would board a different plane. We sat on the plane without an aircon on an a very hot day. After another half an hour, the plane started moving and we were all very happy to have aircon. The landing was alright, but when we got to the parking bay, the airplane died and all the lights went off. The pilot then announced: "Right folks, now that we have landed, I can tell you that the plane should never have taken off in the first place." Everyone was extremely upset to hear this and disembarked the plane in the dark. No one apologised and we were just too happy to be alive. How can BA be so irresponsible and let the flight go without proper inspection?
