On a recent flight from Inhambane to Jo'burg via Maputo:
Arrived at Inhambane Airport on time, was promptly ignored by the check in staff. Asked whether we were going to be allowed to check in; was then told the system was down. After a wait, we were checked in and awaited boarding. Time for boarding and take off came and went, with no notification of flight status from the Mozambique Airlines staff. We went in search of someone to find out what was happening, and no one was around. We found them behind a closed door in an office. We were told plane was late, but no time of when it was expected or why it was late, despite asking. Finally 2.5 hours later the plane arrived. We were checked in through to Jo'burg and assured the flight would be held for us.
Arrival in Maputo and flight out of Maputo had left which meant we were not on it. Despite discussing with two levels of management, they refused to tell us why the original flight was late, and could 'do nothing' to get us to Jo'burg that night. So at great cost a new flight had to be purchased. In addition, no bus was sent to pick us up from the hotel we were put overnight, and no food vouchers given. APPALLING SERVICE!!
