OVER BOOKED FLIGHT IN PEAK HOLIDAY SEASON

I bought an extremely expensive ticket on Kulula - 5, 552 rand for a one way from George to JHB.This was for myself, my wife and my 2 year old son.
I bought the ticket almost 6 weeks in advance as I knew George does not have many flights operating in and out and it is the middle of their peak travel season.
We were at check in just shy of 20 minutes before it closed. ie almost 50 minutes before departure.
The check in staff (albeit very nicely) told me that there were no more seats avail as the flight was full due to overbooking.
We were told they would put us on the next Kulula flight which was 04:15 min later than the one we had payed for.
I insisted we MUST travel but they just said the airline was entitled to do this but would try on SA express 2 hrs later.

I am sick of big corporations abusing the rights of the individual so they can make an extra buck - why sell something you don't have (at the cost of your customer)

As a result of missing this flight we missed out connecting International flight to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific. we then had to hire a care and organise accommodation.
No voucher was given for the airport restaurant. No refund was given!
