In August I booked 2 bus tickets from Grahamstown to Joburg, due to leave on Thursday 29th. Although the company's drivers had been on strike at the beginning of the week, I received an SMS from Translux on the Wednesday that said the strike was over and buses would be fully operational by Thursday. However, after waiting over 2 hours at the bus pick-up point with no bus in sight, and numerous calls to the call centre, we were forced to make (and pay for) alternative transport arrangements with another company.
That was bad.
But do you know whats worse? In all the time since then, I have been unable to find a person to even report it to or discuss it with, never mind someone to give an explanation or apology! Instead I encountered:
- phone lines that were unoperational, left completely unanswered or would cut off spontaneously mid conversation
- no reply to (or even acknowledgement of) numerous emails I sent them
- a number of call centre operatives who took my name and number with a promise to find out information and call me back (which never happened)
- chronically unhelpful call centre staff
Basically, I spent R1 440 to go nowhere and be ignored
