Travelling Nightmare

My husband and I with our 4 year old granddaughter travelled to Capetown on the 25th of September. We had to book and pay 3 months in advance. When we arrived at Johannesburg station we were issued the tickets but they did not have a compartment for us. After a long while and running back and forth, it was sorted out. When we got on the train, it was filthy to say the least and I think the toilets last saw soap and water when they were built. After wiping the sticky seats, I had to throw the cloth away. The water in our basin in the compartment was dirty and smelled bad. So it was a no-go. When it started getting dark, they train manager asked us if we were informed that there were no bedding on the train, despite them advertising it. Obviously, we were not informed and we used the 2 little blankets we took with us for our grandchild. That night the train started jerking so bad that we nearly fell of the seats. This kept on for about 3 hours. Needless to say, it broke down and we travelled 30 hours to Capetown. I will advise all people who even think of travelling this way, to save up and rather fly, It was a nightmare experience to say the least!
