Booked my flight on BA, with 1 leg code share with American Airlines - had to call to secure a seat, not possible online. Systems are NOT compatible. Tried to secure a seat on the BA leg from LA to Heathrow right at the 24hr requirement... Spent 2 hours trying both online and to contact anyone within BA including US (offices closed, although their website says 24hrs) and Australia who said their system was blocking my seat choice as AA had not completed the booking - AA said all was in order but could not help. This is not the first time this has happened - I will definitely not book BA again as the frustration of this all is not worth it. Looks like I can only book my seat at the airport when it will be far too late and I'll be put at the back of the plane in the middle... after spending a fruitless 5 hours trying to secure my seat. Worst experience I've had (to add insult to injury... twice!). I fly internationally on average 3 times a year and don't need this hassle - spending that amount of money I'm sure I can do better.
