No Name Change or Refund

On The 15th January 2013 I booked and paid for a ticket for my son to fly from Lanseria to Cape town and return, to represent Central Gauteng at the "B" National Shore Angling tournament. On the 16th January he was notified that a withdrawl had taken place in the Central Gauteng "A" team and was now required to represent the "A" team and not the "B" team.
I then contacted Kulula to ask if we could change the name on the ticket, my thinking being I could transfer it to the new member of the team (Taking my sons place). They informed me that no change of name is allowed. I then asked if I could cancel the booking and get a refund. They said that this is also not possible. The only thing I can do is leave the ticket open for 6 months. He won't be able to travel in the next six months, and the only reason I booked the ticket was for a specific event... so just loose my money.???

HOW difficult is it to change a name on a ticket? or charge a cancellation fee and sell the tick again???

I am surprised that Kulula are so inflexible, when they try project this easy going cool airline. Is there no cooling off period to allow for a refund or cancellation??
