At the end of February, I was happily using my still new Iphone 5. I had just gotten a new laptop, as my old one was. So I was sitting configuring my computer to my specifications. I thought I would just connect to the internet via my mobile - just quick sticks..
2 weeks ago I phoned Vodacom, to check that they had finally removed BIS and my SMS bundle, which I had spoken to them numerous times about and it had still not been removed from my Billing. When i pressed 'outstanding balance' . I was driving and almost lost control of the wheel when I heard that I owed them R5000. i spent that evening investigating, after having paid R22 to get my itemised billing, I saw that the charges stemmed from 1 night. A few short moments.
I had no idea that the charges attached to data would be SO exorbitant and so quick.
My concern is this: Why did no one contact me when they saw this irregular activity in my usage. I have been a client of Vodacom for 10years and a on a Talk500 for the last 5. If a bank is responsible to phone a client when they see an unusual transaction, surely a service provider should also be responsible?
