BAD and confusing service received

I took my son's cell phone to the Alfagranite MTN store in Quagga Centre in Pretoria to book it in on 02/03/2013.

The complaint was that the cell phone does not charge anymore. In all other respects the phone is fully functioning.

They booked it for repairs and I only received it back 14/03/2013 after enquiring about its whereabouts as no one has contacted me yet.

I took out insurance from MTN directly as my son is still young and I have had previous experience with cell phone providers getting out of warranty claims stating that there is liquid damage to the handset. Speaking to most friends and colleagues this seems to be the prevailing trend from all cell phone providers.

I was not at all surprised to get the phone back and being told that it is liquid damaged and therefore not repairable.

I was however very surprised when I found that it was not repaired even with insurance on the phone.
Upon enquiring about this I was informed that the MTN store does not accept insurance from MTN itself, but only insurance from one third party insurance provider!!!

I was told to take my sons phone somewhere else for repairs.

I find this utterly unacceptable.
