Have had a data contract with Vodacom for over a year now and renewed recently.
At first the data speed was fine but over the last couple of months I keep on noticing how slow the connection is getting (sometimes it ok other times really bad or none at all). Now I know that the speed of the internet is affected by allot of things like location ext, but the infrastructure should be able to handle the traffic, right? I currently reside in Midrand so to my knowledge the connection should theoretically be quite good, otherwise why do vodacom keep selling data contracts?
I did a speed test with my 3 g modem and I couldn't get a connection download speed of above 1 mb/s and an upload speed of 0.03 mb/s (this was @ 9:30 pm), I've been trying to upload a website via FTP server and it keeps failing because of timeouts. Now yes some would argue that this has nothing to do with the connection speed and that there is a problem at the servers side but I have been trying this for a couple of days now and when using the internet at my work (telkom adsl) everything works fine.
I don't normally complain, but this is really getting annoying as I couldn't complete my work today!
