No answer at call centre

I received my new iPhone three days ago and since then I have been trying to get through to the call centre to activate my phone. Yesterday I eventually got through after holding for almost an hour, and speaking to a consultant he told me that my phone will be activated shortly. It is another day later and I am still waiting. I normally hold for an average of an hour per call, where I hear the whole time "Your call is important" and giving me the option to send and email, to which I didn't get any reaction either. "We know your time is important to you but please be patient a little longer, we will attend to your call shortly". This is the message I get every ten seconds while holding for someone to help me. How long do I have to hold on for someone to help me?
