What is the point of a WARRANTY!!! OR CONTRACT!!!

We pay over r800 a month on top up contract, mtn was fast to give it to us and my phone has been giving hassles since the 2month of having it. Due to it being my business phone i waited n waited to send it in which drove me mad. i send it in and wait 2WEEKS!!! only for it to come back NOT FIXED and the button missing which i handed it in with! then i get told my phone has water damage but has not being exposed to water, the lady then states that its humidity, so because my phone has got humidty in it in DURBAN BY THE SEA i am not able to have my phone fixed under warranty or i must pay R5500 to have it fixed which is daylight!
MTN YOU HAVE BEEN NOT ASSISTANCE and i have had 4 contract with u, NEVER AGAIN!!!
i have broken buttons and u people cant even assist with that? the phone switches on perfectly it was mainly my buttons that were damaged.i get attitude from ur musgrave store manager who made it out to be MY PROBLEM but its under a warranty.
KERRY THEN SAYING IT WILL COST A FEW 100 rands to fix the button damage. R400 just on that phone and i cant use it, many people are being robbed. MY PHONE HAS GONE BACK FOR THE BUTTON MTN LOST!!! i waited 2 weeks for this???
