My Blackberry had a faulty "a" button, so I decided to send it in to get it repaired as it was only a year old and therefore still under warranty.
I received a refurbished phone back and it was working perfectly for about a month until one day it just said: "insert sim."
I immediately sent it back as it was still under warranty and this was supposed to have been a "fixed phone."
My husband just phoned me and told me that he got a call from Vodacom saying that it is "impact damage" and that it is going to cost me R4000 to fix the phone...
This is completely unacceptable as I carry the phone in a cellphone pouch in my handbag and i really look after it. My mom and I share an account and spend thousands of rands a month on our contracts and then we get this service...
I myself work in retail and the consumer act protects customers against incidents like this.
I know for a fact that this phone had no impact damage and was probably given a faulty phone from Vodacom. (Some other customer's damaged goods that was fixed and passed on the next customer...)
I will not leave this matter and will make sure that Vodacom gets this phone either fixed or replaced.
