I have contracts with MTN for my whole family.
Recently I applied for a micro sim data contract for my iPad, which was approved. I then found out that MTN was almost 15% more expensive per month on this contract than Vodacom. On average they are 10-25% more expensive than Vodacom (and I have NO love for Vodacom). Obviously I told them to cancel my application as I wasn't prepared to pay this.
It saddens me that the company I have supported for some time now is, in my mind, guilty of extortion. MTN needs to realise that customers are price sensitive, and I might be only one who is complaining, but there are numerous customers who just walk away and do business with Vodacom. I'm thinking of, when my contracts with MTN expire, to have my numbers ported to Vodacom, and take out contracts with them. I can save more than 15% per month on my cellphone contracts this way.
