Since the end of last year when Afrihost switched their service provider to MTN, Afrihost's line speed has been getting progressively worse. I've been suffering poor download speeds on their uncapped 1mbps account for months, hoping that they would sort out the problems and resume normal service. This has not been the case.

In the past 2 months, I haven't had a single DAY without lost of synchronisation (at least once, usually twice or more) that requires me to restart my router. In the past month, almost every download has failed due to erratic connection problems. When the line worked, it worked WELL, but those days are getting few and far between...

After contacting Afrihost multiple times, sending traceroutes and pings as requested, I've simply been told that it must be latency on the Telkom line (which it isn't) and the complaint status says it's been resolved (which it hasn't). I can SEE from the traceroutes that the problem is the MTN servers, but it seems Afrihost can't do anything about it.

I would strongly advise everyone to stay away from this (frankly abysmal) service, until they sort out their network issues.
