Cancellation of Contract

I sit with a problem. Last I renewed a cellphone contract with Cell C, then end of October or begining of November 2012 cannot remember exactly which date the one morning, wanting use the phone to make a call i was informed by voice message that this is now a prepaid phone. Phone Cell C and they informed contract has been cancelled and it now prepaid. THey don't know why and cannnot access any information for this line. I did not cancel it as to my knowledge there is still 16 months left. THey said they cant do anything and can take out another contract if want a contract phone. And also informed there will be no cancellation fees. Then suddenly the 1 January 2013 Cancellation fees were deducted. They informed me the contract was cancelled as a request from customer service. No proof of a request. With investigation after a big struggle they tell me, that they can reactiviate the contract or i will be liable for cancellation fees. I already got a new contract cause they never come with feedback. So what can I do now. I dont know if must except this or if I can take it further. Cause this now after numerous calls to them.
