My son lost his cellphone. I know it was not, because his Samsung phone will send me a sms as soon as a new sim is inserted into the phone.
I went to one of the Vodacom shops to do a sim swop, but after
1.) Positively identifying myself with my ID
2.) Positevly identifying my address with my latest Rates and Taxes document
3.) Proving that I topped up the account on the 30th of January 2013 with R100
It was still not good enough to do a sim swop. They informed me that I need to possitively verify the last 5 numbers my son dialled. For goodness sake, I can't even remember the last 5 numbers I dialed, so how the must a 8 year old remember which numbers he dialled. So, we could only identify 1 of the 5 numbers, so sorry for you, no SIM swop.
In the end I bought him a MTN prepaid sim card, but I expect Vodacom to refund me for the top-up, since they are making it impossible to do a SIM swop.
Don't ever want to do business with Vodacom again, just want my money back!
