Mtn
False information

On 12/12/2012 I contacted Coastal Cellular in Port Shepstone, advising them that my contract was due to expire in January 2013 & that I wanted to port my number to a new service provided. I was advised that I contact MTN customer service on the day after my service is terminated (23/01/2013) & request that my number be moved to pay as you go. Then I can continue to use my number & do with it as I please.
On 24/01/2013 the necessary was done & I received an e-mail confirmation from MTN advising that my number had been successfully migrated to prepaid. I then proceeded to contact my new service provider & request that my number be used on my new contract with them. All kinds of tests were done, but my phone / sim card failed to go over onto the new service providers network. Now, today (12/02/2013) I am told that because my number was moved from contract to prepaid they cannot port this number until 90 days are up. This is an MTN ruling!!!??? Really??? Now I am bound to MTN for another 90 days? Can somebody please tell me how this works & why did nobody from MTN tell me this when I inquired about porting my number!!!???
