Impossible to port to Cell C?!?

8 January 2013: I visited the Cell C shop at Clearwater mall. Brought a Cell C prepaid SIM card with some airtime. I RICA'ed it and requested to port an existing number from Virgin Mobile to Cell C. Saleman assured me that this will be done within 24 hours.
13 January 2013: The number was still not ported, so I called the Cell C call centre. They instructed me that I was suppose to do this myself by sending an SMS with the RICA'ed serial number from the number I would like to port. So I did it. I was under the impression that this was already done by the salesman.
16 January 2013: I called the Cell C call centre again. Same story, no joy. Lady told me that I must just keep on sending sms'es in an attempt to port the number. How many more should I send??? So I asked her to log a ticket.
18 January 2013: Still no porting. 20 days later. Hello Peter can you help me?

Now my question is: Is it possible to port a number the Cell C?

I do not want to sign a contract before the number is not successfully ported. Or should I stop wasting my time with Cell C and go with another operator?!?
