I have a 9780 Bold which I have received as a gift from one of my family members. The phone was sent in due to the trackpad being faulty.
This problem started occuring after 8months of use but after a battery pull worked fine until after 1 year it just completely stopped working.
Due to the phone being under warranty I sent it in to have it repaired at Greenpoint (CPT) customer care who advised after 3days that it has to be sent to the Advanced Repair Centre in JHB.
A week has passed and I called to confirm the status of the repair. To my surprise the advisor told me it is going to cost in excess of R2500 to repair due to liquid damage?? I then disputed it which then changed to physical damage and then finally to the phones motherboard overheating??
To date the phone was never mishandled or near water and I find this highly disrespectful and down right bad business for Vodacoms Repair centre to try and submit a false assessment to get out of replacing or repairing the damage on a phone that has a years warranty.
I tried to enquire with Greenpoint CPT branch who told me I can take it or leave it. Where is the customer service!! Job No: 8552523
