Billed R439 for a R89 3G contract

I signed up for a R89 3G contract two months ago. I remember clearly in the 1st month that once I had exhausted the 2gigs, I was redirected to a screen that notified me that I have reached my limit, and had no internet connectivity thereafter.
In the 2nd month I tried to use the ussd cell c prompts to try and check my balance, but that did not work, I also tried to use phone the cell c number but there was no voice call options in the sim.
I was under the belief that my internet connectivity would cease if I had reached the 2 gigabyte limit and I would be redirected to the limit screen.
I had no idea what my balance was and continued to use the internet based on the belief that it would cease should I reach the limit.
I don't recall applying for an unlimited internet contract, it was made clear to me that I would receive 2gigs only and that my monthly fee would be fixed at R89 per month. Why am I then being charged R439?
