Why is it not possible to do an early upgrade with MTN. I will be able to Upgrade my contract on 01-07-2013 but due to unfortunate circumstances, my phone was water damaged and does not work too well anymore. Instead of paying ridiculous repair costs, I thought I would approach MTN about an early upgrade since its less than a month to go. My account is about 18 years old and I have 5 other contracts with MTN. Surely as part of their customer retention policy, they should be able to assist in this situation.
I have just upgraded 4 contracts with them in the last month and the 5th and 6th contracts become upgradeable in July 2013. I was planning on upgrading them as well... but if this is how MTN treat loyal customers then I might reconsider the upgrades completely.
There isn't even anyone that you can speak to as the call centre says that their policy is not to approve early upgrades. Surely a blanket policy like that is short-sighted considering that each case is different. I am not asking to break the rules or for anything that will cause any kind of loss for MTN..if anything, they would make more money as the contract I want to upgrade to costs me more.
I give up!!!
