I have recently purchased an 8ta sim card and use it in a mobile 3G modem. I decided to buy air time and convert it to a data bundle that can only be used on the 8ta network after checking the 8ta coverage map and ensuring that 8ta 3G coverage is available in our area (Heidelberg-Gauteng). However, I tried every spot in and around my house to try and find the signal. I eventually ended up in the street to find a very unstable single bar on the signal strength indicator. I decided to contact 8ta to "re-convert" the data bundle I bought to an "all networks" data bundle so that I could make use of the 100% signal strength MTN network. The short version of the story: I could not "re-convert" and had to buy extra air time to be converted to an "all network" data bundle.

It is my opinion that the 8ta 3G coverage map is not accurate at all and should be considered as false advertising.
