After an initial call to Telkom, I was emailed by an operator who then over the course of a few days could not answer my questions about my internet needs, I.e. which lines were necessary etc. I then called the call centre to be helped by a woman who refused to send somebody out to install a line without a telephone number attached. It was a request for a new line hence I don't have a telephone number. Another call to the call centre went better and I managed to book an installation in 21 working days! A third call to the call centre got me completely different quotes and I was informed that the request was issued for the wrong line. I was also told to rather let them install the wrong line and change it later than reapply. My request was also upgraded to "urgent". It's been 3 weeks now and I still haven't heard back from them. I think that this service is ridiculous, especially considering that they force you to pay for a landline which I do not want. If they are going to monopolize the internet in SA they can at least offer prompt service. After all, all I need is for a switch to be flipped at the exchange box! Not impressed.
