Only interested in Profit making - NOT Service

My Sony Xperia Z1 (which was purchased at Gateway, Durban) switched off randomly and froze on charge and then overheated after 2.5 days of use after getting a brand new phone and Vodacom contract. I then attempted to take out the back cover due to the battery being so hot and I thought it will EXPLODE (the box started to get hot and the phone was too hot to even touch and the service consultant at the store said this was very abnormal). This cover got slightly scratched.

I then took the phone to a Vodacom store in Secunda. Due to this slight scratch they refuse to give me a new phone or even cancel my contract. They have only done an upgrade to the software and could do nothing more for me. The phone is still sitting at the store in Secunda because they are trying to force me to take a up phone and pay for a contract where the phone is problematic. I have even asked if I can replace the cover in order to get a new phone - but to no avail they are still trying to make a quick buck and get a profit and refuse to cancel my contract.
