In October 2013 I went to the USA for business and took my Mtn phone with me. I have always done it and never had a problem.
After 2 days I got an sms from Mtn that my bill is over R16 000, 00 already and I stopped using the phone immediately. I went and bought a AT&T simcard, installed it in my phone and started using it. For UD$60, 00 I get unlimited phone calls to any where in the USA plus to 100 other countries, which excluded SA plus unlimited sms and 2 gig of data for 1 month
When I got back to SA, I got a bill of over R22 000, 00 for the 2 days I used the phone in the USA. It seems that I was connected to some Mtn site for many hours and that was the cause of the monstrous bill.
I tried on many times to contact Mtn, but no reply! I have been a customer for 20 years, have three accounts with them, but they would not answer any of my complaints.
When this contract runs out, I am finished when this greedy company not interested in their customers complaints. AT&t is at least a 100 times cheaper than Mtn, it is just a trick of Mtn to rip you off like you never dreamed of, as Mtn would for sure get data cheaper than what I paid at AT&T but they preferred to cheat me with R20000
