Huge bill after upgrade to smart M

We upgraded our weekender contract to a Smart M with a Blackberry Q10 phone on 5 June 2013. We were told that we would get 250MB data per month and free SMS's (cannot remember how much). cost of new contract R500.

The average spend on the previous contract was (according to the salesman) R580.00 per month. our first bill just came and is now R2200.00. My wife spoke to the call centre and they say it is data, but they cannot tell what it is for, only when it was connected.

On the weekender contract, the phone was used for internet, e-mail, facebook & BBM. When we got the new phone, we stopped using it for e-mail & only used it for limited facebook and BBM (which is supposed to be free on the contract)

It is completely unacceptable that the bill could go up this much as the phone was used less and specifically the data consuming functions were disabled and not used.

I would like Vodacom to correct this or cancel the contract.

If this is the way that Vodacom cheats and treats their customers, I will definitely not renew our other contract at the end of this month and rather go to MTN.
