Unable to cancel my contract

Since the20th of Dec I have been trying to get a new phone from Vodacom. my Blackberry is not working well and due to work reasons I need a working phone. I was denied a premature upgrade which I understood but thought it was ridiculous that Vodacom refused a upgrade even though I was willing to pay a penalty and in the long run Vodacom would have made money from me upgrading. currently I pay around r290 a month but I wanted to take a I phone5s which would be around 600 a month.
nonetheless I went ahead with the premature cancellation in order to get a new phone. on the23rd of dec I went and deposited r1000 and on the24th I faxed the forms and receipt. on the27th I called 0821958 to only be told to be patient they will get back to me.on the2/1/14 I called again and was told I should have been given a reference number at the previous call. on the 4/1/14 received an sms saying they didn't receive the documents.
tried getting through to someone who can help for the last 2 hours the call either drops or I get transferred to wrong departments.
I am unable to find the documents which was left at work but surely Vodacom can recheck the faxes received on the 24th of Dec or check bank state
