In the recent few months, I've been struggling with connectivity speeds on my 4mbit ADSL line (Durbanville, Western Cape).
After a couple of fault reports, the response provided is: "sorry, that exchange is saturated and there is nothing that can be done right now, and there is no ETA when it will be corrected".
So I have been paying for a 4mbit ADSL connection for what? I might as well be using a dial-up modem it's so slow sometimes:
- During a work day, I get expected speeds and ping response times of around 20ms to 196.25.1.1;
- From about 6pm, it starts slowing down to around 200ms pings;
- By 10pm, I get over 2000ms pings (2 seconds!!!);
- Weekends are also just impossible to do anything (but sometimes I get a lucky hour of acceptable connectivity).
A simple tracert reveals it's Telkom's exchange that is the culprit.
So, no ETA to fix? Please, give me an ETA, or else I have to seek an alternative connectivity method.
I also assume that Telkom will never provide any form of compensation for this frustration experienced by its customers (as I'm sure, I am not the only person affected by this in our area).
Here's hoping for a resolution to this matter.
