You told me you would load my airtime

I have cancelled my Virgin Mobile account due to terrible service and I am going to port. Chris Barnard told me that my final airtime would be loaded yesterday and that my final bill would arrive in January so I haven't ported yet because he told me this. Now I have zero airtime on my phone! Why haven't you loaded my airtime?!?! I'm sure you won't hesitate to charge me for it!
These are his exact words copied and pasted from an email from him :
Your contract only reaches maturity on 02/12/2013.
Therefore we are legally bound to load your final airtime on 01/12/2013 as your contract will still be active on 01/12/2013.

We will then invoice you on 01/01/2013 for this airtime and deduct the payment on 20/01/2014 as we invoice a month in arrears.
