New Handset Nightmare

We upgraded to a new SAM S4 on 23/11/2013. After the store clerk checked the contents, we left the and headed to home. During the course of the afternoon, while our phone was still charging, we noted a hairline crack on the screen. This was not visible to us nor the store Because the shop was already closed we returned the following Sunday and explained that the phone screen was cracked. We requested a new handset, but reluctantly agreed that the handset be sent away for inspection (OBF???) After numerous calls between us and Vodacom, we received conflicting information on numerous occasions. The call center stating the store should have done this and this, the store stating that they CANT do that and that...
Frankly, I don't care... I bought a new phone that was not used ONCE, it was received damaged and taken back and I expect that a new handset be issued. If a proper investigation of the phone took place in store it might have prevented the whole issue, further the decorative sticker on the phone may well have prevented both myself and the consultant to see the hairline crack initially.
