Cell C reluctant to assist phone problem

IPhone 5 on contract with Cell C since May 2013. - 4.5/5 months later the phone suddenly for unknown reasons stop charging while on & doesn't get recognized by ANY computer when connected via a cable.

I manage to discover that the phone DOES charge though when switched off. To my understanding this obviously means that the "CHARGING PORT" doesn't function as it should.

Due to busy schedule I was unable to book in the phone with Cell C to get it inspected & replace/repair if needed under WARRANTY (warranty still active til May 2014).

Recently I accidentally dropped the phone which caused a slight dent to the top part of the phone, which is the complete opposite side of the charging port causing the problem.

A week ago I booked the phone in by Cell C Menlyn Park to be sent to their repair center in Midrand. The feedback was that due to the "physical damage" they won't be able to solve, help or even LOOK at the problem under warranty & I have to pay an enormous amount to get the phone "exchanged" & not REPAIRED.

I'm NOT satisfied with the situation & would like to have assistance to reach a mutual agreement to be fair and reasonable.
