I handed my new iPhone 5 because a message appears that: "Charging is not supported by this accessory". According to the internet, and even the Apple site, the reasons could have been the iOS, the charger or even the phone.
To my surprise the technicians report came back as Liquid Damage - Beyond economical repair. Yet the phone was working perfectly fine, all apps functional and I was able to make phone calls. I was just not able to charge the phone.
I took the phone to two other repair companies who both indicated the phone's charging block could be replaced, at the approx cost of R450 for an iPhone 4s (the charging block for the iPhone 5 was ordered and they did not have a price). They did mention it would not be a whole lot more.
So how is it possible that Cell C is telling me that the cost to repair my phone is in excess of 75% of the phone's value (which is approx R9000) and is beyond economical repair?
I have mailed Cell C without any response. I've had the contract since 14 December 2012, and am now sitting without a phone, but a contract that still needs to run for 22 months.
I would like urgent feedback on the matter.
