Data - no connection to MTN server in Goodwood

I have had no connection to MTN server from my USB stick for the past 5 days and intermitent connection prior to that. After numerous phone calls to the call centre (1555) and speaking to various people in the coverage dept I have been informed that the tower in my area - Goodwood, Cape Town, at Monte Vista station is being repaired, therefore I have no connection. I do have full signal, but no connection to the internet. They have no idea when the data service will be restored. Do I need to pay for the service while it is not available and when will the service be up and running again?
