Hi

Since July 2012, my monthly MTNSP payments from my credit card has been failing because my credit card was replaced by the bank after a attempt in July 2012.

I only realized that I was behind on my MTN payments this month when I called the call centre about something else and they mentioned my account is R5, 000 overdue.

I have since settled my debt, but have found that there are three major faults in the MTNSP billing process:
1) Both the MTNActive online statements as well as my postal statements, INCORRECTLY reflect the outstanding amount in the 30 days column, and NO amounts are listed in the 60 or 90 day overdue columns. This is a MISTAKE in MTN's statements. The statement also doesn't clearly indicate a payment failed.

2) The MTN call centre rep noted I should have received a SMS to inform me that my account is overdue. I have never received such SMS. It is sad that other organizations can send you a SMS to inform you if a payment failed or is overdue, but MTN does not. I would have immediately settled my account and updated my bank details six months ago.

3) My assigned "credit controller" never contacted me to inform me my account is overdue
