After battling with ADSL connectivity for the last week, I finally determined last night that my account had been throttled.

Throttled to the point that I cannot even browse the web or obtain email.

Contacting MWEB support today, I was informed that they have changed the terms of agreement based on my usage statistics. The only solution being that I upgrade to a 2Mbps service which will allow for higher volumes??? (Volume achievable is certainly directly related to access speed)

I've been with MWEB for two years without any prior issues on usage. My current usage at around 50G being the reason than I am now being throttled. Most interesting is that Mweb Tech support (Amelio) cannot confirm the volume related to the throttling being introduced, or the period for which I will be throttled. Apparently UNCAPPED 1Mbps is only intended for web browsing and the occasional 10MB download. One STEAM update alone was 4.4G

A new account can be activated in 15 minutes, though a 1 calender month notice period is required for cancellation. However, I have missed the cancellation period, being the 9th of November and therefore cancellation can only be acknowledged for the end of Desember!!
