Charges that make me wonde

I renewed my contract on the 6th of September 2013. But Nashua told me that the network can only do the upgrade on the account after the 25th of September. Not a problem i thought. Well my bill arrived and to my horror. It was nearly double. When i queried this i was told it was normal usage - this was a shock as it would mean that i abused my phone for 15 days of that month. I complained bitterly and asked them for a discount - they finally obliged me to a point. Then came the next bill in October. Again it was a double bill to what should have been charged. Again i complained and again after a fight they obliged with a discount. But why does it take a detective attitude from my side for them to even do there job properly.
My next query was this. Why would a customer have to pay up for their decision to load new contracts after a certain date in the month? Why would i need to pay and out of bundle charge while i am between contracts not of my doing but of theirs. Why not keep me on the old contract rates as is?
My request was for them to reverse the charges on the account for September and keep to my original charges that i had averaged over the last two years.
