On Saturday the 19th of October 2013 I purchased a contract at MTN on a Sony Xperia Z1 but only started using the phone on Sunday. When I removed the plastic cover over the battery I saw a crack in the phone that I did not even drop or put on a hard surface. I took it back the following Monday after I was told that if there is anything wrong with the phone it can be returned within 7 days. They said the phone will be sent away to MTN head office and that it would take 7 days before I can get a new phone. It's been 2 weeks now and MTN are refusing to replace the phone, when I told them I would then like to stop the contract they refused and told me to pay a R12 000 fine. It's an MTN product that we are paying for that I purchased broken and now I don't get any help from MTN whatsoever.
This is the first time I have taken out a contract with MTN and it's the first time I've had this problem... If I could get the contract cancelled or a new phone it would be appreciated but I am struggling to get ANY joy out of MTN and something I have paid/am paying for.
