At the end of last year I discovered accounts opened in my name. It took almost 4 months for CellC to resolve. It only got resolved after I had a credit bureau involved. Last month I discovered a new cellc account opened. I queried it with the bureau again. During that time I was unable to open any other accounts, including one at Vodacom who had a special. Yesterday I received feedback from the bureau stating that my query was not challenged and was removed from my record. I contacted CellC today to check if everything was finalised and were informed that there is still an account in my name. Now how is it that after an investigation where I provided CellC with my ID, signatures and as proof of address do they still open a new account without verifying the information. The deal at Vodacom is also not available anymore which means it is now going to cost me more. Not even to speak of the reputasional damage that was done after being rejected by Vodacom due to a dispute on my credit record. All this due to CellC being so desperate for customers they will open an account to anyone without verifying their information. For all I know this information leaked from them.
