Paying for Subscription that Expired 18 months ago

It came to my surprise that i have been paying R50 p.m. on a subscription that expired 18 months ago. That is a total of R 900 for the period where the subscription ended. Firstly i never opened this subscription as i have always had one account and one number, so i do not know how this subscription was linked to my name. Secondly how is it fair that a client pays for a subscription after the expire date? I called the call centre to query and she said that in clause 3.1 of the contract it says that if MTN do not receive a letter to cancel the subscription they will carry on to charge clients. This is day light, unethical and in my eyes.
The call center lady was uninterested in my plight and couldnt give two hoots about whether this was ethical or not. I cancelled the subscription now but they will still take a further R50 as it will only go off next month. TREATING CUSTOMERS FAIRLY!!! I THINK NOT...
Extremely upset at how MTN are ripping clients off, many of them not even knowing that it is happening.
I would like to see if MTN will get back to me regarding this abuse of trust or whether they will just keep quiet and keep money from their clients.
