Vodacom charges you for nothing

I bought R200 airtime for my Vodacom 3G card then immediately tried to buy a 1 gig data bundle from the Vodacom app on my Virgin Mobile phone. It said I had insufficient funds so I checked my balance and it said R68. I logged out then in again and my balance was R21. This morning I logged in to My Vodacom again and had R0. My 3G card remained idle on my desk the entire time. The call centre insinuated that I had definitely used my 3G card but I did nothing of the sort. Clearly it costs R200 to check your balance 3 times. This is why I ported to Virgin Mobile many years ago. Vodacom will charge you wherever they can, whenever they can. I am a Masters student who needs internet access desperately as it is exam time but I don't trust Vodacom at all so I refuse to buy more airtime for fear of it being drained by an inactive 3G card. I am appalled by this issue and by the amount of similar complaints on this site.
