I have a Vodacom USB dongle and buy data bundles as needed. Unused data expires after two months which is a rip off in itself. Website has a "Check your balance" area which does not work. If I reach my bundle limit, WITH NO WARNING, my airtime is chewed up at R2.00 per MB. To check my balance, I have to insert the sim card in a telephone and dial *111#. There is no other way around this. Come on. This is the 21st century and they cannot give me my balance online? They won't tell me why it doesn't work - Call centre indicates, "That's how it is". Having an airtime balance allows me to buy an emergency bundle when I need it 24 hours per day. The alternative is to "run out" without warning, in the middle of a transaction.
