Number for life???

Good day.
I contacted Autopage Head Office more than a month ago regarding the fact that I would like to change me cell phone number. The person gave me the costs and everything and when I wanted to know what the next step was is was informed that it cannot be done as I apparently have a NUMBER FOR LIFE?? I never ever requested to have a number for life and this is not acceptable. I spoke to a supervisor which promised to phone me back (which obviously never happened)! On the 30th of September I was contacted by a Sifiso (after I complained on their FaceBook page) and he wanted to know where I can be contacted - I told him I want everything in writing... then on 10/10 Sifiso Mlangeni contacted me again and I emailed him telling him that if he wants to phone me to tell me it cannot be done he is wasting my and his time... needless to say nothing happened after that.
Long story short - I NEVER REQUESTED NUMBER FOR LIFE AND WANT TO CHANGE MY CELL NUMBER AS IT IS MY RIGHT TO DO.
I prefer all correspondence with Autopage in writing...(if they wanted to contact me)
