Failure to activate sim swop

At the end of September I accepted a cell phone contract from Cell C telephonically. I accepted the contract on condition that I retain my existing Cell C prepaid number. This was agreed to by the consultant and the conversation was recorded. The phone together with the new sim card was delivered on October 2nd. I have been trying since that time to activate my phone line. Firstly I was told to go into the nearest Cell Cstore to get my number properly RICA'ed as the records indicated that it was under my I.D number but on someone elses name. I did this at the Chatsworth Centre Cell C store.
I then re-contacted the call center. They told me that my existing number was reserved by Autopage cellular and that if I wanted to retain this number that I would have to request this from them myself. I thought that this was highly irregular and should have been done on my behalf by Cell C.
I then contacted Autopage cellular in my personal capacity and confirmed that the number was no longer reserved by them and was on prepaid for over a year.
I then contacted the call center for the THIRD time. I was given a reference but I still have not been helped and my number has been cancelled.
