I subscribed to a 2GB internet connection for R149 pm which was on "special" by Vodacom via Nashua Mobile. On 15 January, I received my phone bill which showed an additional R2800 charge. When I contacted Nashua, they said that this is due to an extra usage of 1.3GB! This means that they charged 40 times the initial price for extra communications! The most annoying is that they didn't apply a "soft lock" to my line (i.e. it prevents further communication once the usage limit is reached) and there is no way to monitor ongoing consumption. Do not purchase these specials as they are extremely dangerous to the customer as he/she can end up with huge bills every month due to uncontrollable usage! I contacted other consumer protection bodies to investigate these practices as they are definitely going against the spirit of the CPA!!
