I took up the Afrihost mobile internet offer, and received my wifi router 2 days ago. I paid them: R170.73 for data, plus R796 for the device, total R966.73. South African citizens need to be warned: the Afrihost mobile internet service does not work as advertised. I did a speed test with it and got a download speed of 0.16MBps. My Vodacom router at exactly the same place clocked 16.7 MBps, which is more than 100 times faster! I have tried the Afrihost device in 2 different towns, so it's not a coverage issue. The Afrihost internet service is quite simply unusable everywhere: it's even slower than the old pre-ADSL, dial-up modem speeds! I contacted customer services, sent them an email with all details, and now I am being ignored by them, now that they have taken my money. I strongly recommend that all potential buyers be very wary of doing business with these people. I have thrown nearly R1000 away on this substandard service and product.
