Month ago my Samsung Galaxy notebook lost its connection with the Vodacom network. This meant that I could not use the internet or phone and I pay a contract fee of R399.00 per month excl. all the extras. I only had the device for about 1 month and I assumed it was still under guarantee. When I handed it in at the Vodacare shop in the Somerset Mall the assistant told me that she just had the same problem with another customer and it seems to be a network problem. They sent the device to Johannesburg for repairs. Within a day or two I received a call to tell me that the guarantee was not valid because there is a scratch on the casing of the device. They quoted me R2400.00 for the repairs. I immediately took my device away and told them that I am very shocked. I took the device to Neotell in Die Strandmeent in the Strand and they repaired my device for R700.00!! How is this possible? Vodacom refused to repair my device unless I paid /-R2400.00, but a independent company repaired the device for me for only R700.00. A difference of /-R1700.00! To top it all, the scratch on the casing had no influence what-so-ever on the software problem, so why was the guaranatee invalid?
